Introduction

Audiote ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Audiote web application at app.audiote.com and the marketing website at audiote.com (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the Service.

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Information We Collect

Account information

When you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account information including your name, email address, and profile picture (avatar). This information is used to create and identify your account. We do not receive your Google password.

Recording data

When you record or upload audio, we store the audio files on our servers (Cloudflare R2 cloud storage). We also store metadata about each recording including the name, duration, creation date, and any timestamps or location data you provide.

Transcripts and notes

Transcript text, speaker names, notes, and AI-generated summaries you create within the Service are stored in our database. This content belongs to you and is only accessible to you and authorized members of your workspace.

Usage data

We collect information about how you use the Service, including which features you use, when you use them, and general usage metrics. This data does not include the content of your recordings or notes.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain the Service
  • Create and manage your account
  • Process and transcribe your audio recordings
  • Generate AI summaries and names for your recordings
  • Calculate and enforce usage quotas based on your plan
  • Process billing through our payment processor (Stripe)
  • Respond to support requests
  • Improve the Service

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your audio content, transcripts, or notes to train AI models without your explicit consent.

Google User Data

We access your Google account solely for authentication purposes. We receive your name, email address, and profile picture when you sign in with Google. This information is used only to identify your account within the Service.

We do not access your Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar, or any other Google service beyond the authentication scope.

You can revoke Audiote's access to your Google account at any time by visiting your Google account permissions page.

Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Data Storage and Security

Audio files are stored on Cloudflare R2, a secure cloud storage service. Transcripts, notes, and other application data are stored in Convex, a secure cloud database service.

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your data. All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. Audio files are stored with access controls that require authentication to retrieve.

No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we take reasonable precautions, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual recordings at any time from within the Service. Deleted recordings and their associated transcripts and notes are permanently removed.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the Service:

  • Clerk - Authentication and user management
  • Convex - Database and backend infrastructure
  • Cloudflare R2 - Audio file storage
  • Soniox - Audio transcription
  • Stripe - Payment processing
  • Vercel - Web hosting and deployment

Each of these services has its own privacy policy and data handling practices. We only share the information necessary for each service to function.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Export your notes as Markdown or plain text from within the app

Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us at privacy@audiote.com and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
